The Christmas season was kicked off with the annual Norwegian Christmas Tree Lighting, which took place at Union Station on Monday, November 28th. The event is presented by the Norwegian-American Chamber of Commerce, the Royal Norwegian Embassy, Washington Performing Arts and Mars Arts DC. The line-up included Tine Thing Helseth's group TenThing, Rayshun LaMarr from NBC's the Voice, the folk bank Wicked Sycamore and East of the River Steelband.
The Norwegian Ambassador to the US, Anniken Krutnes, spoke of the importance and longevity of the Norwegian-American bond.
President of the Norwegian-American Chamber of Commerce, Mid-Atlantic Chapter, Idar Voldnes spoke at the Christmas Tree Lighting.
